Benevolent Support Specialist
Position Summary:
· The Benevolence Support Specialist supports the coordination and execution of Benevolent Support Section activities and benevolent support development to cover medical and other needs of clients not funded by Federal or other programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned)
· Identify, research and verify veracity of wellness and benevolent support activities and organizations suitable for use by program participants.
· Develop and maintain rapport with all nonprofit organizations who provide support to SOF WII warriors and/or their families.
· Assess benevolent support request validity based on parameters established by the Wounded Warrior Assistance Act (JER), USSOCOM Directives and WCP policies and procedures.
· Assess and prioritize clients’ needs based on limited resources.
· Analyze situational variables and leverage subject matter expertise to identify appropriate non-Federal entities to provide support within JER mandates.
· Perform as liaison while skillfully interacting with, educating and providing guidance for benevolent concerns to all stakeholders and clients in face to face telephonic and written venues.

Education and/or Experience:
· BA/BS degree
· 4+ years recent/relevant experience in the Warrior Care or 2+ years of Human Resources experience in non-federal entity interaction related specifically to wounded, ill, or injured Service Members
· Military experience highly preferred
· Related experience in working with military personnel and people with disabilities
· Government contract may require person to possess proof of U.S. citizenship
Knowledge:
· Clear understanding of HIPAA
· Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Excellent verbal & written communication and problem-solving skills to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals
· Knowledge of USSOCOM structure and procedures
Abilities:
· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
· Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
· Ability to lift or move equipment weighing up to 15 pounds
· Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
· Ability to work effectively under pressure
· Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reactive by nature
Clearance:
Secret Clearance required. Candidates may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information upon hire.
