Mrs. Kostelnik spent six years in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant (SSgt.) Throughout her career, she served as a command post controller at various commands including the 39th ABW at Incirlik AB, Turkey (USAFE,) the 374 ALW at Yokota AB, Japan (USPACOM) where she aided in OPERATION TOMODACHI after the 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami and nuclear reactor meltdown hit Northern Japan, and the 31st FW at Aviano AB, Italy (USAFE.) During her final year in the Air Force, she served as an Airman Dorm Leader at Aviano.

Megan holds a BS in Information Systems Security and is pursuing an MS in Aeronautics. Her awards and decorations include the Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO Service Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon.
